Parenting in this age of technology

It is incredibly hard parenting in this age of technology.  Our kids have access to smart phones, tablets, laptops & video games.  At times it can be hard to manage & monitor.  Additionally, the peer pressure our kids feel when they see others kids at school with latest phone or tablet can be hard to manage.  You may make the decision to not give them the latest & greatest which is what my husband & I did.  That being said, at some point we need to let our kids "act their age".

As a stepparent who managed access to iTunes when my step-kids had iPods, I often had to set limits & let them know I was not giving the password to the iTunes account.  I also remember having to set limits about the music they wanted to download knowing I could manage it when they were 10 years old but knew when they became teenagers, things would change with them earning more responsibility.

I have included an article from parents.com that addresses, "Letting Kids Act Their Age"
